Cultural activities

At Vikhe Patil Memorial School, we put equal emphasis to academics and extra curricular activities. We encourage students to be ambitious, creative, participative and provide them with the platform to showcase their hidden talent.

Pune is the cultural capital of Maharashtra and we try to inculcate the passion for culture in our students. Each child is unique and can find a passion which can be groomed further into a career. We believe there is no limit to what our students can achieve.

Our belief at VPMS is that music is an important tool that can help children develop their own imagination. This creative art form can help stretch their mind and look at certain things differently.

We have a team of trained professionals who train children from primary to secondary sections. There are lessons on Indian and western music, on both vocal and instrumental aspects. Students can practice in dedicated music rooms with access to multiple instruments.

Indian Music

Drama is performing art through which children develop their ability expression through voice, body language, movement and at times with improvisation of the act on stage. Whether the performance is scripted or unscripted, students can agree on something to be done together.

It is therefore another large and integral part of the cultural activities at school is emphasis to theatre. For the last few years, our annual week comprised of students of all age groups to participate and perform in plays, shown at the in-house auditorium. The in-house team of teachers collaborate with theatre exponents for this activity. Some of our activities have seen stellar performances in and out. ‘Learning by doing’ is something that helps children  sharpen their skills. Without doubt, VPMS believes in this concept, therefore, the exposure to ‘ drama and activities related to theatre’ are of paramount importance at VPMS.

Art and Craft

At VPMS, the art and craft includes a gamut of activities ranging from fine art to  origami.

In  the context of formal education, the importance of art is inevitable. Students learn to appreciate visuals and artefacts through art education. Experts say that a child learns to self-evaluation and that of others through visual exploration. An appreciation towards art can thus be inculcated and developed within a child over the years. Through use of colours, designs, patterns, etc, students can enhance their creative skills. We encourage our students to participate in different forms of art which also helps develop an artistic eye. Appreciation of art and artistic beauty  is very important aspect and should be a part of formal education. At VPMS, we strive hard to encourage children to learn the art of appreciation. A plethora of activities with regards to art and craft provide a constructive platform to the students.
