Marathi Bhasha Diwas is celebrated on 27th February on account of the Birth anniversary of noted Marathi litterateur V.V. Shirwadkar known as Kusumagraj. He was an eminent Marathi poet, play writer, novelist, short story writer and humanist.
The objectives to celebrate this day was:
- To enlighten the children with the literary work of V. V. Shirwadkar and other famous Marathi writers and poets.
- To enable children to appreciate the language
- To provide the information about different forms of Marathi literature and dialects.
The programme began with a special prayer, followed by the thought for the day. The poem ‘Gavatache Paate ‘was presented by the students of Std VI followed by Ovi and Bharud by the students of Std V. A short story narration and a Mono Act was presented by the students of Std VII – IX. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
