Junior School Annual Sports Meet – 2018-19
The playground of Vikhe Patil Memorial School was filled with great zeal and excitement as the school celebrated its 27th Annual Sports Day on 9th February 2019. This programme started at 3:30 p.m. with the arrival of the Chief Guest Dr. Ashok Patil, Chairman of Vikhe Patil Foundation and Mrinalini Ma’am, Principal of Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Pune. The event began with the escorts welcoming the guests. This was followed by The Torch Run by the State, National and International players from our school. The torch which symbolizes excellence and hope was held high, making each one of us proud. The Chief Guest declared the sports meet open. We then got to witness the Inter- House March Past, a highly competitive event where the four houses eyed for the first place and marched smartly to the rhythmic music by our school band.
This was followed by the oath taking ceremony led by our Games Captain, Archit Pungaliya which surely geared up all the students to perform their best in the activities lined up for the sports meet. The Chief guest was felicitated on the dais and the sports report was read out by the games captain, Jiya Baijal.
The students then got ready to display a wide array of colourful and vibrant drills. The little ones of Std I and II presented a ‘Flower Drill’. They mesmerized the audience with their adorable smiles and enthusiastic performance. The students of standard III & IV displayed their coordination and energy in the ‘ring drill’.
Further the budding sports stars participated in their respective races with full verve and vigour. It was a delight to see the excitement with which the children challenged themselves to perform their best in different races such as simple race, hurdles, obstacle race, relays etc. The young achievers and winners were awarded with medals and certificates by the chief guest who highly appreciated each one of them. The winners took pride in accepting the medals and other participants cheered them with poise, going by the saying, ‘Participation is more important than winning’
The Chief Guest then addressed the students and the audience with a short but inspirational speech. He praised parents for their presence as well as support that lent a special charm to the event. He also applauded the effort of the students and teachers for making the event a huge success. In his speech he highlighted the necessity of sportsmanship and the fact that emphasis on sports and co curricular activities is also essential for the all round development of our children.
The speech was followed by the vote of thanks by the head girl, Aditi Bachav and the National Anthem. It was surely a day filled with fervour, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
Pre Primary Annual Sports Day –
“Talent wins games, but team work and intelligence wins championship.”
Sports Day is a platform to showcase the talent and efforts put in by the children. Sports at pre -primary level is not about competition, it is about having fun, being physically active, building co-ordination and motor skills and to give the little angels an opportunity to display their self -confidence, zeal and sportsmanship.
The Annual Sports Day of the Pre primary section was held on 9th February 2019.The Chief Guest Mr..Megh Thakkar and our Principal,.Mrinalini ma’am graced the occasion. The event began with a walk past by the Sr.KG children for the noble cause of “Save Water”. The children dazzled the audience with the drill where the Jr.KG stood in a formation of a tap with a water droplet and the Sr.KG in formation of “Save Water’’ message. Following immediately thereafter were the fun races and Relay Race, a much awaited segment. The Jr.KG boys and girls had the ‘Droplets Race’ and ‘Sprinkler Race’ respectively and the Sr.KG boys and girls had the ‘Slogan Race’ and ‘Puzzle Race’ respectively. It was a delight to see the excitement with which children challenged themselves to attempt variety of races. There was a hurdle race for the Kakas and Maushis. The young achievers, Kakas and Maushis were awarded a prize and a certificate by the Chief Guest and the Principal. After the Prize Distribution ceremony, the Chief Guest shared his thoughts.
To end the programme, the Vote of Thanks was proposed, followed by “Save Water’’ pledge and singing of the National Anthem. The children were served sandwiches and a fruit drink before dispersal.
